Images, lines, gestures, moods from the films of the years…
In 1971, Richard T. Jameson and Kathleen Murphy offered the readers of Movietone News a different kind of celebration of the best of the year. In addition to the traditional “Top Ten” lists that every critic is apparently obligated by law to provide, they attempted to capture the ephemeral moments of cinema magic through the year in a series of pithy sketches. “Moments of out Time” became a tradition established in Movietone News, revived in the nineties in Film Comment under Jameson’s editorship, gracing the virtual pages of MSN Entertainment for years, and now finding a home at Parallax View.
We’ve reprinted the “Moments” of years past from Movietone News, Steadycam, Film Comment (reprinted with the kind permission of Film Comment’s current editor Gavin Smith) and MSN Entertainment on Parallax View.
