Good overview of Rohmer but, man, I am getting a bit tired of critics having critical arguments with Harry Moseby who is a fictional character based on absolutely no one in existence. Therefore, his opinion does not really count for much in and of itself. If it counts at all it is only because it became a reference point that others could use to make an argument. But considering that the screenwriter who wrote the line originally had the Moseby character say it about Claude Chabrol rather than Rohmer tells us that he didn't really know what the heck he meant when he wrote it anyway other than that it had to simply be a character trait. It was changed by Penn who clearly says he did it as an homage and that he loves Rohmer.
