I love this entry on The Burrowers. It seems I am in the minority of film goers that experienced Petty's film as a brilliantly atmospheric nod to the austere and brutal landscape of the west infusing the elements of the horror genre.
Both are so richly compatible and I think he did an excellent job of capturing this sensibility. It had a rich underlying sense of irony, while laying the groundwork for an effectively creepy piece of work.
